Description
English: The photo shows the severely emaciated Slovenian prisoner of the Italian Rab (Arbe) concentration camp, Janez Mihelčič, born on July 12, 1885 in Babna Polica, who died in the camp on February 4, 1943. In the 1960s, Italian historians falsely presented the picture as an image from the Nazi extermination camp Auschwitz-Birkenau.
Deutsch: Das Foto zeigt den stark abgemagerten slowenischen Häftling des italienischen Konzentrationslagers Rab (Arbe), Janez Mihelčič, geboren am 12. July 1885 in Babna Polica, der am 4. Februar 1943 im Lager verstorben ist. In den 1960er Jahren wurde das Bild von italienischen Historikern fälschlicherweise als ein Bild aus dem nationalsozialistischen Vernichtungslager Auschwitz-Birkenau vorgestellt.
